On a recent trip to Sydney Qantas asked if I wanted to bid for a ‘Neighbour Free Seat‘
Basically Qantas was asking me to pay 30% more so I could have an empty seat next to me (Subject to Capacity).
In other words by paying the money if the flight wasn’t full I was more likely to get an empty seat next to me.
Full flight and you get the money back.
Well I decided for a 90 minute flight it wasn’t worth the money.
When I got on the flight I found I was the only one sitting in a row of three! . . . so all the advantage without the fee
Travel Hacks
On routes with lots of flights, like Sydney-Melbourne look for the cheapest flights.
These are going to be cheaper because they aren’t fully booked.
That means they are your best way to get an empty seat next to you, without paying.
